TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, February 17. Uzbekistan aims to increase the volume of transportation services by 15 percent, reaching 185 trillion soms ($14.2 billion) in 2025, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Transport, the exports are expected to rise to $2.2 billion. Half of the railway service exports will be focused on transit cargo. In addition, the volume of transit cargo by rail will increase to 22 million tons by 2030.

Modern electric trains will soon connect Tashkent with Yangiyoʻl, Chinoz, and Sirdaryo districts. Air services to Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Nukus, and Termez will also double. By 2025, the transportation services sector aims to serve 15 million passengers. Furthermore, aviation services are expected to grow by at least 20 percent. Local freight forwarders' role in international transportation will increase, and a three-year program will double the number of multimodal logistics centers.

The country also plans to allocate vacant land along highways for entrepreneurs, leading to the construction of 72 modern roadside service facilities. VAT exemptions and customs duty relief will be provided to support these efforts, including a three-year exemption for Euro-5 and higher freight vehicles.

The volume of transportation services in Uzbekistan grew by 8.6 percent and reached 145 trillion soms ($11.1 billion) by 2024.
