The demand for Iranian petrochemical products is so high that a 10 percent increase in production still hasn't met needs.
Abdol Hossein Bayat, the managing director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that petrochemical exports have grown 29 percent in value over the last two months.
Bayat said some countries' ambassadors have approached officials to inquire about buying petrochemicals from Iran.
Iran plans to increase the 25 kinds of petrochemicals it currently produces to 85.
In April, the NPC's chief had put Iran's petrochemical production level at 18.2 million barrels annually.
