BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 29. Iran imported more than 494,000 (494,495) cell phones worth about $123 million in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 20, 2024), the data of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
Cell phones were imported into the country in two forms: for commercial purposes and by citizens.
In the first month, 466,000 (466,193) cell phones worth approximately $107 million were imported for commercial purposes, whereas 28,300 (28,302) cell phones worth $16.3 million were imported by individuals.
In the last Iranian year (March 21, 2023 to March 19, 2024), Iran imported approximately 14.7 million (14,688,580) cell phones worth $3.2 billion. Iran's cell phone imports declined by 0.6 percent in value and climbed by 0.7 percent in quantity over the previous year (March 21, 2022 to March 20, 2023).
To note, Iran mainly focuses on the importation of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the importation of products manufactured there.
