Volume of guaranteed wheat bought from farmers in Iran's Khuzestan Province revealed

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. About 1.52 million tons of guaranteed wheat has been purchased from farmers in Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran from April 10 to May 25, the Director General of Iran’s Government Trading Corporation’s branch in Khuzestan Province Omid Jahan Nejadian said, Trend reports.

He claims that in Khuzestan Province, the procedure for ensuring the purchase of wheat has been going on for several days. But at this time, buyers are buying over 10,000 metric tons of wheat every day from farmers.

Jahan Nejadian added that 955,000 tons of wheat has been purchased by the Central Union of Rural and Agricultural Cooperatives of Iran and more than 560,000 tons by the provincial branch of the State Trading Company and the private sector.

The official noted that during the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2023, to March 19, 2024), more than 1.72 million tons of wheat were guaranteed to be purchased from farmers in the Iranian province of Khuzistan.

To note, in the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), 1 kg of wheat in Iran is purchased under the guarantees of the State Trading Company for 175,000–180,000 rials (about $4.17–$4.3).
