BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 7. Hormozgan Province has emerged as the leader in Iran's trade turnover among the 31 provinces during the 6 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024), amounting to 24.8 million tons worth $15.3 billion, Trend reports citing the Iranian Customs Administration.
Hormozgan’s customs offices accounted for a significant portion of the country’s trade over the past 6 months, handling 26.3 percent in terms of value and 28 percent in terms of weight.
According to the report, Tehran and Khuzestan Provinces also played major roles, with their customs offices processing 775,000 tons worth $9.2 billion and 18.1 million tons worth $7.6 billion in trade, respectively.
In terms of exports, the customs offices in Bushehr Province handled 15.6 million tons of goods worth $5.8 billion, while Hormozgan's offices managed 20.8 million tons worth $5.5 billion, and Khuzestan’s offices processed 10.5 million tons—$3.4 billion worth of exports.
On the import side, Hormozgan again led with 3.9 million tons of goods worth $9.9 billion, followed by Tehran with 296,000 tons worth $8.3 billion and Khuzestan with 7.6 million tons worth $4.2 billion.
During this period, Iran exported 70 million tons of non-oil products valued at $25.8 billion, reflecting a 6.5 percent increase in value and a 3.5 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran also imported non-oil products worth $32.6 billion during the 6 months.
