BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 22. The South Pars gas company is set to boost its gas processing volume by 40 million cubic meters per day soon, thanks to the finishing touches on an overhaul at plant No. 5, Head of Iran's South Pars Gas Company Gholam-Abbas Hosseini said at a meeting with the heads of the company's processing plants, Trend reports.
According to him, with the completion of repair works, gas processing in South Pars Gas Company will increase to 570 million cubic meters per day.
Hosseini added that currently, the processing of South Pars gas is 530 million cubic meters per day.
The official noted that with the onset of cold weather in the country, South Pars Gas Company has made the necessary preparations for uninterrupted gas supply.
The South Pars gas company processes the rich gas from the South Pars gas field. This company supplies more than 75 percent of the country's gas consumption. The company has 13 processing plants.
To note, the South Pars gas field (North Douma in Qatar) is a joint Iran-Qatar gas field. Reports indicate that this field possesses 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, with the potential to produce 36 trillion cubic meters. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
