BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 1. Gas processing at the No. 7 processing plant of Iran's South Pars Gas Company in the first ten months of the current Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through January 19, 2025) increased by 1 percent compared to the same period last year (March 21, 2023 - January 20, 2024), Mehrad Abdi, the plant’s director, told reporters, Trend reports.
According to him, over 12.5 bcm of gas has been processed at the 7th refinery of South Pars Gas Company and handed over to the country's gas network over the ten months.
He also noted that during the mentioned period, the plant produced 400,000 tons of propane, 280,000 tons of butane, and 32,500 tons of sulfur.
The official added that over 14 bcm of gas were delivered from the South Pars gas field to the plant during the ten months.
To note, the 7th processing plant handles gas from the 17th and 18th phases of the South Pars gas field. The plant produces daily 50 million cubic meters of natural gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate, 3,200 tons of liquefied gas, 2,600 tons of ethane, and 400 tons of sulfur.
Meanwhile, the rich gas produced at the South Pars gas field is processed by the South Pars company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 13 processing plants.
South Pars Gas Company obtains 650 million cubic meters of rich gas daily from the South Pars gas field. It processes and transfers 580 million cubic meters of gas to the country's gas network. The company also produces 780,000 barrels of gas condensate, 15,000 tons of methane, 15,000 tons of propane, 10,000 tons of butane, and 2,500 tons of sulfur per day.
The South Pars gas field (North Dome in Qatar) is a joint Iran-Qatar gas field. It is reported that this field has 51 trillion cubic meters of gas reserves, of which 36 trillion cubic meters can be produced. Iran's share in this field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
