BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9. Iran's South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) produced more than 19 billion cubic meters of gas in the past Iranian year (from March 20, 2024, through March 20, 2025), which was then transmitted to the country's gas network, Director of the 5th refinery of SPGC, Kambiz Sefati, told local media, Trend reports.
According to Sefati, the 5th refinery produced 137,000 tons of ethane in the previous Iranian year, 506,000 tons of propane, 270,000 tons of butane, and 35,000 tons of sulfur.
He also mentioned that over the past year, the 5th plant produced more than 23 million barrels of gas condensate.
Sefati further noted that last year, the plant processed 21 billion cubic meters of rich gas, extracted from the South Pars gas field and delivered to the plant.
The 5th gas refinery of the South Pars Gas Company processes gas and gas condensate transported from the 9th and 10th phases of the South Pars gas field. The refinery processes 56 million cubic meters of sweet gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensate, 2,600 tons of ethane, 2,180 tons of propane, 1,250 tons of butane, and 240 tons of sulfur per day.
Meanwhile, the rich gas produced at the South Pars gas field is processed by the South Pars company. More than 75 percent of the gas consumed in the country is provided by this company. The company has 13 processing plants.
The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
