Director of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Valiollah Afkhami Rad has welcomed boosting ties with Netherland, inviting the European country to draft a roadmap for improving trade relations between the two countries.
In a meeting with Director General of Foreign Economic Relations at the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs Marten Van den Berg, Rad said Iran is willing to remove obstacles to Iran-Netherlands economic relations, SHANA news agency reported Sept. 21.
By finding a way to the Iranian market, the Netherlands will be able to reach the markets in countries around Iran as well.
Rad added an Iranian trade delegation is due in Amsterdam in late 2015 he said.
The two country's non-oil trade turnover stood below $300 million last year, whereas it had hit $2.3 billion eight years ago.
The decline in trade volume followed international sanctions against the Islamic Republic, which is hoping to redeem the past days after it reached a comprehensive deal with world powers in July.
Iran's major exported goods to the Netherlands have been oil, chemicals, machinery, food, industrial goods, fruits and concentrates, construction material, carpet, dates, and honey.
Dutch exports to Iran have mainly consisted of industrial machinery, chemicals and petrochemicals, dairy products, raw materials and tools for making livestock food, seeds and saplings, medical equipment, laboratory equipment, and drugs.
