The first gas fuel processing plant of the 14th phase of South Pars gas field in southern Iran will be commissioned by the end of October, said the managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Mohammad Meshkinfam, Trend reports referring to the company's website.
According to him, about 1 billion cubic feet (app. 28.3 million cubic meters) of gas is produced daily from the two platforms of the 14th phase of the South Pars gas field.
Meshkinfam added that the other two platforms will start production by the beginning of the winter season.
"South Pars gas field is a priority for the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum. The production of 56 million cubic meters of sour gas will be fully realized in the 14th phase of South Pars," he said.
The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is reported that the field has 51 million cubic meters of gas reserves and that it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas. Iran extracted 610 million cubic meters of gas daily from this gas field in 2018.
