BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) has exceeded its winter gas transfer commitment, delivering 22 million cubic meters more gas to the country's network daily than initially planned, the Deputy Oil Minister and Executive Director of NIGC Saeed Tavakkoli told reporters, Trend reports.

Tavakkoli explained that during the winter, NIGC had planned to transfer 850 million cubic meters of gas to the national network daily. However, on certain days, the company managed to transfer as much as 872 million cubic meters.

Tavaqqoli also noted that NIGC employed turbo compressors to prevent the loss of 50 million cubic meters of gas during the transfer process.

“Despite financial limitations, NIGC has taken several steps to store gas reserves and allocated 12 trillion rials (about $20.7 million) for the construction of renewable energy plants as part of efforts to address energy shortages.

Additionally, a roadmap for optimizing gas consumption has been developed,” the official added.

Moreover, Iran's total hydrocarbon reserves amount to 1.2 trillion barrels. Iran can extract 340 billion barrels with existing technological equipment, of which about 30 percent can be utilized, while 70 percent remains unused underground.

Currently, Iran has 74 active oil fields and 22 gas fields. The country produces around 1.1 billion cubic meters of gas daily.
