Georgia’s food agency delegation heads to Russia

The delegation of Georgia’s National Food Agency has headed to Russia. It consists of six people that will hold a meeting with the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergei Dankver on April 2, the head of the delegation and the Agency, Zurab Chekurashvili said on Monday.

The delegation of Georgia's National Food Agency has headed to Russia. It consists of six people that will hold a meeting with the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergei Dankver on April 2, the head of the delegation and the agency, Zurab Chekurashvili said on Monday.

According to him, the main purpose of the meeting is the export of Georgian agricultural products to the Russian market. The delegation will present the existing legislation of Georgia in terms of food safety and control mechanisms to the Russian side. The meeting will also consider the export of vegetables and fruits.

"We want to return our products to the traditional market," Chekurashvili said.

The delegation also includes the deputy head of the agency Sokhadze Michael, head of food safety department Kakha Sokhadze and his deputy Demna Helaya, head of phytosanitary department Zurab Lipartia and plant quarantine specialist Otar Skhvitaridze.

The delegation will return on April 4.
