"Europe should play a major role in ending the ground operation in Gaza. Immediately after the talks in Ramallo, I am going to Israel where i intend to meet with the president of Israel and to persuade him to stop the bloodshed in Gaza ", said the president.
According to him, Israel is a strong democratic country that does not leave Gaza in a state of humanitarian catastrophe.
"Hamas played a major part at the beginning of the war. The responsibility lies on Hamas ", he said.
"It's necessary to agree for negotiations. The whole world should take part in the search for a peaceful solution to the problem ", said the president.
Mahmoud Abbas, in turn, demanded an immediate stop to operations in Gaza. He also thanked the countries that help the victims in Gaza.
