France may suspend its commitments under the Schengen agreement on border-free travel in the EU due to an influx of refugees from Tunisia and Libya, French media said on Friday.
A mass riot that turned into a revolution swept across Tunisia in January. After a month of violent protests President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali fled the country and later was deprived from his post, RIA Novosti reported.
After the Tunisian revolution, Europe has faced a large flow of French-speaking refugees from Tunisia. About 22,000 Tunisians who want to move to France have already arrived in Italy and are preparing to cross the border into France.
