Türkiye tallies volume of cargo transported from Ukraine

BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 25. Approximately 1.5 million tons of cargo were transported from Ukraine to the ports of Türkiye from January through February 2024, the data of Türkiye's Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure said, Trend reports.

During this period, Ukrainian-flagged vessels delivered 48,500 tons of cargo to the ports of Türkiye. Around 28,396 tons of transit cargo were transported to the ports of Türkiye from Ukraine from January through February 2024.

Meanwhile, the ports of Türkiye received 32.7 million tons of cargo in February 2024.

During this period, cargo traffic to the inland ports of vessels under the Turkish flag amounted to 2.3 million tons.

Cargo traffic of vessels under the flags of other countries to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 1.2 million tons.

Additionally, 5.9 million tons of transit cargo were transported from Turkish ports in February 2024.

According to the ministry, Türkiye's ports received 66.2 million tons of cargo from January through February 2023.

"The cargo traffic of Turkish-flagged vessels from January through February 2024 amounted to 4.7 million tons. And by vessels under the flags of other countries, cargo traffic to the ports of Türkiye amounted to 61.2 million tons," the statement said.

About 11.1 million tons of transit cargo were transported from the ports of Türkiye from January through February 2023.

Türkiye's ports received 4,531 vessels in February of this year.

According to information, during this period, the number of ships accepted in Turkish ports under the flags of other countries amounted to 437,000, and the number of ships accepted under the flag of Türkiye amounted to 3,094.

The ports of Türkiye received 8,883 ships from January through February 2024.

During this period, ships under the flags of other countries accepted by Turkish ports amounted to 6,047, and ships under the Turkish flag amounted to 2,836.
