Azerbaijan, Baku, Jan. 12 / Trend , E.Rustamov/
Conflict resolution in the South Caucasus will be discussed at the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly. Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is also on the agenda.
OSCE Special Representative Goran Lenmarker will deliver a special report on the regional situation after visiting the South Caucasus in early February, OSCE PA Communications Director Klass Bergman wrote Trend in an email on Jan. 12.
The OSCE PC meeting is scheduled for Feb. 19-20.
The aim of Lenmarker's visit is to discuss conflict settlement issues and their development.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 due to Armenian territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Since 1992, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including Nagorno-Karabakh and 7 surrounding districts. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement. Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France and the U.S. - are currently holding peaceful negotiations.
Lenmarker plans to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
