U.S. State Department representative Rick Root got familiar with the realization of joint projects as a part of the project on Ambassador's Fund for Cultural Preservation in Turkmenistan, Turkmen Dovlat Khabarlari reported.
U.S. has worked on this project since 2001. Root made a trip to Dashoguz province where a number of architectural monuments are being restored. The monuments under restoration include cupola of a monumental mausoleum of Sultan Tekesh erected in late 12th and early 13th century. The monument lost significant part of its coating because of a colored majolica.
The employees of State Historical and Cultural Reserve Kunyaurgench consolidated ramshackle constructions of the cupola of the mausoleum. Work is underway to restore its decoration from tiles covered with a blue glaze. The Institute of History restored top of the Gerogli monument built in 11-12th century thanks to the U.S. State Department Program in 2006. A new project was launched recently. Specialists will overhaul Ismat-ata religious complex in Zaman village.
During his mission Root visited Anau where the first joint Turkmenistan-U.S. project was realized seven years ago. At that time Turkmen National Agency for Preservation, Study and Restoration of Historical and Cultural Monuments recovered remains of the 15th-century mosaic from the ruins of the Sayid Jamaladdin mosque destroyed in the earthquake in 1948. The monumental panel was put at the hall of picture arts museum.
