Afghan President Hamid Karzai condoled with families of victims of two earthquakes occurred in Nangahar province.
Tremors of 5.5 points took place in the Sherzad village of the Nangahar province (90 kilometers east of Kabul) in the morning on April 17. The earthquake killed 20 people,, injured 50 and destroyed tens of houses, the Afghan Presidential Administration released.
Karzai urged all governmental bodies to immediately render aid to the injured people.
Tens of slight tremors take place in the Hindu Kush range of Afghanistan each year. As many houses in Afghanistan are pise-walled, even slight tremors can cause a great number of death and damage the country's infrastructure.
