Azeri first deputy premier to visit Ukraine early March

Abbas Abbasov, the Azerbaijani First Deputy Premier will pay a visit to Ukraine early March 2006, Talat Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Ukraine, told journalists on Thursday, Trend reports.

During the visit it is planned to discuss issues linked with the preparations for the 7th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. Abbasov plans to accord the documents which will be included in the agenda of the forthcoming meeting due in Baku, Aliyev underlined.

He also said that Andrey Veselovskiy, the Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister, will visit Azerbaijan late this February. The Ambassador noted that key topics of discussions will be the development of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries.

The same time Aliyev noted that early this summer Ukraine will undertake the chairmanship at the GUAM and after it is planned to hold a summit of the heads of sate of member-countries. The exact date and place of the summit is still to be defined. The event will be more probably held in Kiev or Sochi. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is also expected to participate in the forthcoming top meeting, the Azerbaijani diplomat said.
