Iranian carmaker SAIPA is pursuing a liquidity injection to pay off debts to component makers with the assistance of the Ministry of Industry, said vice president of SAIPA Hamid Reza Rastegar, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"Close relations between the domestic automakers and component makers, in particular, in the recent years, has grown more than ever with the production of diverse domestic vehicles. Now, the country's main problem is the lack of liquidity, which, will be resolved with the support of the Ministry of Industry,” he said.
Rastegar noted that small and medium-sized component manufacturers are more likely to be in trouble than large ones. “If the government does not support them, they will quickly go to bankrupt, which will lead to a serious problem in the supply chain," he said.
According to reports, Iran Khodro and SAIPA owe about $4.5 million to component makers.
