ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, October 5. Turkmenistan's key economic sectors saw a considerable growth in their GDP rates from January through September 2024, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov said at the cabinet's meeting in Ashgabat today, Trend reports.
He stressed that during the specified period GDP in the industrial complex grew by 3.5 percent, in construction - 9.3 percent, in the transport and communications sector - 6.8 percent, in trade - nine percent, agriculture - 5.2 percent, and services - 7.5 percent.
Additionally, Geldimyradov pointed out that the volume of produced goods increased by 11.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023, while retail trade turnover rose by 11.2 percent.
The official explained that the revenue part of the state budget was executed at 102.4 percent, while expenditures amounted to 97.7 percent.
He added that salaries in large and medium-sized enterprises increased by 10.5 percent compared to the previous year.
To note, in the first nine months of 2024, Turkmenistan's GDP growth rate was 6.3 percent.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) previously forecasted a GDP growth rate of 6.5 percent for Turkmenistan in September 2024. The bank also anticipates an increase in gas exports in the medium term, which will lead to a rise in the positive balance of the current account in 2024 and 2025.
