ASTANA, Kazakhstan, March 5. Kazakhstan is introducing a Register of Locally Produced Goods, which will start operating this year after the adoption of the necessary regulations, Trend reports via Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Mazhilis of Kazakhstan (the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan) has adopted in the second reading the law on determining the country of origin of goods. The main goal of the law is to create a system for the correct identification of Kazakhstani manufacturers and their products, which will ensure their development and rational use of public funds.
In this regard, a Register of Locally Produced Goods is being introduced, which will begin functioning this year after the necessary regulations are adopted. It will replace the "ST-KZ" certificates and industrial certificates, which will remain in effect until January 1, 2026.
The introduction of the register will allow for the
identification of real domestic producers using clear selection
criteria. The authorized body in this area has been designated as
the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development.
A manufacturer must demonstrate compliance with the minimum
threshold of production and technological operations, confirming
this with documents and photo and video materials in order to be
included in the register. This will prevent unscrupulous
participants from passing off imported goods as Kazakhstani goods
by simply changing the packaging or applying appropriate
labeling.
This register is being developed within the framework of implementation of the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, aimed at creating a production cycle with a high level of localization, which will reduce dependence on imports, facilitate the transfer of modern technologies and promote the localization of new industries.
