BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 15. The total electricity generation in Azerbaijan’s hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) has reached 669.6 million kWh from January through March 2025.
Data obtained by Trend from the Ministry of Energy indicates that electricity production in HPPs surged by more than 230.3 million kWh, reflecting a growth of over 52.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
Moreover, the country's HPPs generated around 439.3 million kWh in the first quarter of 2024.
Meanwhile, the total electricity production in Azerbaijan from January through March of this year reached 7.1 billion kWh. This marks a 0.6 percent increase, or 42.5 million kWh, from the previous year's figures.
Of this, the production from TPPs amounted to 6.3 billion kWh, from hydroelectric plants (HEPs) 669.6 million kWh, and other sources contributed 183.9 million kWh, including 9.5 million kWh from wind power plants, 112.5 million kWh from solar power plants, and 61.9 million kWh from the Waste Incineration Plant.
