BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 16. The volume of electricity generated by Azerbaijan's Varvara Hydropower Plant (HPP) since its launch has been disclosed, Trendreports via the Ministry of Energy
The dam-based hydropower plant has produced over 5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from the time it was commissioned up until April of this year. Since undergoing reconstruction, the plant has generated 638.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity.
The plant consists of three hydro units, each with a capacity of 5.65 megawatts, resulting in a total installed capacity of 17 megawatts.
Varvara HPP, located in the village of Varvara in the Yevlakh district, was originally built and commissioned between 1954 and 1957. The facility was relaunched into operation on April 16, 2017, following a comprehensive reconstruction.
