ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 5. Kazakhstan plans to modernize the infrastructure of Kuryk port in Mangistau region and increase the number of vessels operating at the port by the end of 2026, Trend reports.
The region also plans to repair sections of the road from the city of Zhanaozen to the border with Turkmenistan, passing through the resort area of Kendirli. This was announced by the chief of the Passenger Transport and Roads Department of Mangistau region, Adaibek Kaliyev, during the akimat meeting (local government).
Moreover, Adaibek Kaliyev reminded that a 7,000-ton cargo ship, "Nasipkali Marabayev," was recently launched. Additionally, the construction of the Sargaz terminal in Kuryk is ongoing. By the end of the year, the modernization of the railway stations in Mangistau, Beyneu, and Shetpe should be completed.
In the course of the meeting, acting chief of the Water Resources and Irrigation Department Anuar Tulyakov reported that the construction of a desalination plant in the resort area of "Kendirli" is planned to be completed by May 31, 2025. The third phase of the "Caspian" desalination plant in Aktau is being implemented, with its capacity increasing to 100,000 cubic meters per day.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has paid special attention to Mangistau, setting specific tasks for the Government and the regional akimat to create the necessary conditions for the comfortable life of the residents. All the issues raised at today's meeting are under the direct control of the President. Each task must be completed on time, accurately, and with high quality. Responsible employees must approach their work with great responsibility," said the akim (governor) of the region, Nurdaulet Kilybay.
On April 18, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting on strategically important projects and set a number of tasks to improve the welfare of the people of Mangistau and enhance infrastructure.
