BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. Western Union, a globally recognized name in financial transfers, remains a strong player in Kazakhstan’s remittance sector, Trend reports.
According to the latest data obtained from the National Bank of Kazakhstan, in April 2025, the system accounted for 18,550 incoming transactions, amounting to 6.06 billion tenge ($11.86 million).
This places it second in both categories, with 33.6% of the total transaction count and 31.4% of the transferred funds.
While trailing behind Zolotaya Korona ( 24,140 transactions), Western Union continues to be a preferred choice for many. The system’s wide global reach and established brand help maintain its competitive edge, especially for transfers originating from outside the CIS.
Meanwhile, in April 2025, Kazakhstan received a total of 55,300 money transfer transactions from abroad through various international payment systems, amounting to 19.3 billion tenge ($37.7 million).
