ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 7. Turkmenistan has rolled out the red carpet for a container train journey from China to Azerbaijan, paving the way for a fresh chapter in regional logistics teamwork, Trend reports, citing the Transport and Logistics Center of Turkmenistan (TULM).
The deployment of a trial intermodal freight train comprising 50
standard forty-foot TEU units consolidated in Zhejiang, China. The
freight was transited through Kazakhstan to the Turkmen frontier
and subsequently relayed to the Baku International Seaport
utilizing a Turkmen national feeder vessel originating from the
port of Turkmenbashi.
This logistical endeavor highlights Turkmenistan’s expanding
significance in the global network of multimodal transit pathways.
TULM, a pivotal entity in the realm of intermodal logistics,
orchestrates containerized transport solutions within the national
rail infrastructure, thereby enhancing the nation’s transit
efficacy and optimizing cargo distribution frameworks throughout
the Eurasian corridor.
Inaugurated via a presidential mandate in July 2018, TULM is
charged with enhancing Turkmenistan's logistical framework,
amplifying transit throughput, and formulating streamlined
methodologies for import-export and transit freight dynamics.
The newly established route underscores the strategic significance
of Turkmenistan's geospatial positioning and its dedication to
optimizing East–West freight transit linkages.
