Zakirov highlighted that once the current initiatives are fully
implemented, UZCARD holders will be able to use their cards at POS
terminals and ATMs in Kyrgyzstan, while Elkart cards will become
widely accepted in Uzbekistan.
He also noted that the first phase of the integration process,
which allows for seamless peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers between
Elkart and UZCARD, is already operational and can be accessed via
the mobile applications of participating banks in both nations.
"Our objective is to create an interconnected regional payment
ecosystem, allowing UZCARD users to make payments abroad with the
same ease and convenience as they do within Uzbekistan," Zakirov
emphasized.
He further pointed out that Uzbekistan’s acquiring
infrastructure for UZCARD already supports international payment
systems, including Mastercard, UnionPay, Visa, Discover, and Diners
Club, with efforts underway to expand these integrations
further.
Zakirov concluded by stressing that UZCARD is open to
collaborating with payment systems in countries with significant
cross-border traffic, mentioning that joint projects are currently
in development with Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE.
