Some 18 million euro loans and 700,000 euro grants were allocated for the construction works of cable cars in Georgian Mestia city, Trend reports via Georgian media.
According to the agreement, the grant is intended for the development of tourism in Mestia and winter sports. The preferential loan is for purchasing the cable car equipment in Mestia.
Within the framework of the project, the installation of two cable cars is already completed in Hatsvali ski resort. 5 cable car equipment are already delivered in Tetnuldi, 4 of them have been put into operation. Completion of the works is scheduled for the end of 2021.
By order of the Mountain Resorts Development Company of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, the Austrian-Swiss Doplmeier-Garaventa Group has completed the construction of three new cable cars for the Bakuriani ski resort.
Minister of Economy Natia Turnava said in 2023 Bakuriani will host the Freestyle World Championship.
"This is a great responsibility to which we respond with new projects,” said Turnava.
According to the minister, in 2021, the first competitions will be held in Bakuriani, using new ropes and new tracks.
