Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 February /corr Trend I.Khalilova / The Government of Azerbaijan signed and directed to the European Commission the Financial Memorandum on 2007-2010 National Indicative Program within European Neighborhood Policy (ENP), Rufat Mammadov, the Executive Director of the European Commission's Coordinating Bureau on Technical Assistance Programs (TACIS) to Azerbaijan, said on 18 February. The budget of the program totals €92mln.
From the Azerbaijani side, the document was signed by the National Coordinator from EU, Minister of Economic Development, Heydar Babayev.
The projects will be realized within the program approved each year. The European Commission approved the budget of the programs for 2007 at €9mln and 2008 - €21-22mln.
The plan was developed for 2007-2013. The plan envisages strengthening of democracy in the country, improvement of business and investment climate, support of continuous economic development, reinforce the cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan in energy and transport spheres, strengthening of regional cooperation, as well as cooperation in border governance.
Azerbaijan has already sent the 2007 indicative program to the approval of the European Commission. It includes three directions - sectoral support of Public budget, twinning program and technical support.
Within 2008 program, the directions of the assistance are still being determined (with regards to justice and agriculture).
