The commission established by the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers to identify illegal constructions in the areas of railway and road safety revealed about 954 illegal constructions (881 - residential and 73 - not residential), the Azerbaijani Transport Ministry reported.

The bulk of illegal buildings (883 units) are located in area of railway safety and 71 illegal constructions- in area of road safety.

The commissioned identified about 5,000 illegal constructions in the areas of railway and road safety in the first stage, of which 2,000 are located in area of road safety and 3,000-in area of railway safety.

The monitoring that were conducted in Baku, Absheron, Ganja and Sumgait showed  that the illegal constructions causes danger to the movement of trains, maneuvering compositions and maneuver brigades, as well as the inhabitants of illegal buildings. The area has 23 dead-end railway lines connecting with the stations of Ahmadli, Sumgait, Baku Cargo, Khirdalan, Keshla, Bilajari, as well as several highways.

Construction of the illegal buildings in these areas leads to the fact that they do not work. This, in turn, leads to the necessity of unloading cargo arriving at these stations.
