Iran Plans to Increase Non-Oil Exports to $80bln in 5 Years

Iran announced on Saturday that it plans to boost its non-oil exports to $80bln within the next five years, FARS news agency reported.

According to a cabinet approval signed and issued by a number of cabinet ministers who are also members of Iran's High Council for the Promotion of Non-Oil Exports (HCPE), the country's non-oil exports in the next Iranian year (beginning on March 21) will raise to $43bln out of which $31bln will be gained through exporting goods and $12bln through exporting services.

The approval also predicted a gradual growth for Iran's non-oil exports, and said the country's non-oil exports will increase to $43bln, $50.5bln, $59bln, $69bln and $80bln in the next five years, respectively.

According to official reports, Iran's non-oil products are exported to 160 countries of the world. China, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea and Belgium are the main destinations and markets of the Iranian products.

Earlier, Head of Iran's Customs Office Abbas Me'marnejad announced that the country's non-oil exports surpassed $29bln in the first 11 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2010 to February 20, 2011), showing a 25% growth in comparison with the same period last year.

"The value of Iran's non-oil exports, including gas condensates, reached $29bln in the first 11 months of the current year, showing a 25 percent growth compared with the previous year's figure," Me'marnejad said.

He also said that Iran exported nearly $23.8bln worth of commodities, excluding gas condensates, during the same period.

On Tuesday, Me'marnejad had also said that the value of Iran's trade exchanges has amounted to $82bln during the last 11 months, showing growth both in imports and exports.

"The value of Iran's exported goods, excluding gas condensates, has amounted to $23.8bln, and $29bln including gas condensates, during the said period," Me'marnejad stated, saying that the figures show a 25% increase compared with the same period last year.
