Kazakhstan has seen a sharp increase in direct investment in its information and communications sector over the past four years, according to a report made on Thursday by the press service of the National Agency for Export and Investment KAZNEX INVEST JSC.
"In 2009-2012, the volume of direct investment in the region amounted to $2.9 billion, while the figure for 1993-2008 did not reach $0.3 billion," the report says.
According to the press service, Apple opened a training center at the International IT-University in Almaty last year, which provides training and business courses for students to develop software applications for mobile devices and so forth.
Hewlett-Packard is developing a joint project with NC Kazakhstan Temir Joly JSC to create IT-service center and an innovation center for railway transport service in the PIT SEZ.
Another world-known American company, Transcosmoc Int., has launched a project to create a call center in Kazakhstan along with Zerde JSC and Kazakhtelecom JSC.
