Iran has exported around $17.9 billion worth of non-oil goods in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21, Assadollah Asgaroladi, Head of Export Commission of Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines said on Saturday.
"The figure shows a 13 per cent decrease compared to the same period of the previous year," the ISNA News Agency quoted Asgaroladi as saying.
"The exports of gas condensate and petrochemicals accounted for $3 billion and $5 billion of the mentioned amount respectively," he added.
"Despite all the sanctions, Iranian exporters managed to export some 41 million tons of goods in the six-month period," Asgaroladi said.
Iran's exports to India and China increased by 155 and 18 per cent, respectively, in the mentioned period, the country's Customs Administration reported.
It is while the county's exports to Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and other countries decrease by 3, 33, 11, and 18 per cent, respectively.
Iran's trade balance with 89 countries was positive during the mentioned period.
Iran also imported some 13.241 million tons of goods (worth of $19.935 billion) in the first six months of the current year.
Deputy Director of the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran, Kioumars Fathollah Kermanshahi said on September 27 that Iran will not be able to achieve the previously-set goal of $59 billion for export in the current Iranian calendar year (to end on March 20, 2014).
"Iran plans to export about $41 billion worth of goods and $18 billion worth of technical and engineering services in the current year," the ISNA News Agency quoted Kermanshahi as saying.
Former Director of the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran Hamid Safdel said on September 22 that Iran's non-oil exports will increase in the second half of the current Iranian calendar year.
