China’s Sinotruk state-owned company voiced an intention to build a truck assembly plant in Turkmenistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
The project was presented as part of the recent universal exhibition of Chinese goods in Ashgabat. The event was held in Turkmenistan for the first time and became an effective platform for presenting the significant industrial and export potential of the friendly country.
Over 100 managers and specialists of leading companies and firms from various regions of China, including Qinghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shandong and others, took part in the three-day forum.
Many participants represented the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Kizilsu Kyrgyz Autonomous Prefecture of China.
The possibilities of exchanging experience in the production of textile products, implementing of joint projects for the development of greenhouses and the creation of enterprises producing household appliances were discussed at the event.
The potential of developing the contacts between Turkmen and Chinese entrepreneurs, investment partnership in small and medium business was stressed.
As of 2016, around 40 enterprises with Chinese capital operate in Turkmenistan.
Around 70 investment projects worth more than $4 billion and 2.3 billion yuan were registered.
The Chinese companies are represented in such sectors as oil, gas, telecommunications, transport, agriculture, textile, chemical, food, healthcare and construction.
