In the first quarter of 2018, industrial products worth 11.1 billion manats were manufactured in Azerbaijan. The figure increased by over 2 percent compared to the same period of 2017, according to the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan.
"The growth in the non-oil industry hit 9.9 percent, while the growth in the oil industry was 0.9 percent," the Committee said.
According to the Committee, 73.5 percent of industrial output was produced in the mining sector, 21.3 percent - in the processing sector, while 4.6 percent accounted for generation, distribution and provision with electricity, gas and steam, 0.6 percent – for water supply, waste cleaning and recycling.
Oil production grew by 2.2 percent, while production of commodity gas decreased by 5.8 percent.
During the period, production of tobacco products in the country increased by 2.8 times, finished metal products - by 2.5 times, and printing products - by two times.
Production of furniture increased by 96.7 percent, leather, leather goods and footwear - by 85.1 percent, textile products - by 53.2 percent, building materials - by 38.7 percent, electrical equipment - by 37.4 percent, machines and equipment - by 27.2 percent.
Metallurgical industry recorded an 11.5-percent growth, while manufacture of chemical products increased by 6.2 percent. In the wood processing and manufacture of wood products, there was an increase of 0.8 percent.
Production of beverages declined by 3.1 percent, food products – by 7.2 percent, computer, electronic and optical products – by 18.3 percent.
The output volume in the production, distribution and supply of electricity, gas and steam increased by 0.7 percent, while the output volume decreased by 3.5 percent in the water supply, waste cleaning and processing sector.
