Iran has achieved 35 percent increase in agricultural production as a result of mechanization, said Kambiz Abbasi, head of the Agricultural Mechanization Expansion Center of Iranian Agriculture Ministry.
Mechanized agriculture is the process of using agricultural machinery to mechanize the work of agriculture, greatly increasing farm worker productivity.
He said that 65 trillion rial (around $1.54 billion) have been invested in mechanization since 2013, thus, the majority of the problems in the sphere of mechanization was solved, Trend reports citing Mehr news agency.
It is necessary to invest $250 million per year in mechanization of agriculture, according to Abbasi.
Abbasi went on to add that 600 hectares of lands in Iran are harmed by cold weather and especially hailing, which causes 100 trillion rial (around $2.38 billion) worth damage to the agricultural production. “We intend to use new systems and technologies to prevent such problems.”
He noted that anti-hail systems, manufactured by Russia have been installed in gardens of East Azerbaijan province.
