Bulat Bakauov, the Head of Kazakhstan’s Pavlodar region, presented the prospects of region’s agricultural development and highlighted the issues that stock farmers of Priirtyshe have to deal with, Trend reports with reference to press office of the region’s akimat (administrative center).
He covered these topics during the parliamentary hearing addressing the development prospects of manufacturing, processing and export of the meat and milk products.
“We build sector-based pyramidal structure in animal husbandry, which includes family farms network, a number of major feedlots and deep meat processing,” said Bulat Bakauov.
“Some 10 feedlots with total capacity of 13,400 livestock exist in the region. The implementation of two investment projects on 10,000 livestock is to begin this year, which will cover the region’s need for industry feedlots,” he added.
“Regarding dairy cattle, there are 28 operating major and medium dairy commercial farms with total volume of 10,000 livestock in Priirtyshe. This year, six dairy commercial farms are to be put into operations with total volume of 3,400 livestock,” the head of the region noted.
“As at the end of last year, 96,500 tons of meat in live weight and 382,100 tons of milk were produced in Pavlodar region. The increase of production leads to the load increase of the functioning network of meat processing and milk processing ventures,” Bulat Bakauov said. “Last year the meat export plan was exceeded by a third and amounted to 1,350 tons worth over $3.8 million. This year we plan to double this amount.”
The head of the region also spoke about the issues of the farmers' concern. One of them is frequent change of the subsidizing rules of state programs, which negatively affect the farming.
He also highlighted the importance of quality forage base. “The existing irrigation infrastructure of the region is operated at full capacity and covers 70,000 hectares of land. In the meantime, there are a number of projects in the region that are aimed at additional irrigation of 50,000 hectares of land,” said Bakauov.
The project’s documentation was already transferred to the regional state-owned enterprise KazVodHoz and to the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan for the allocation of necessary funds.
