Iran's signing bilateral and multilateral monetary agreements with its neighboring countries can greatly contribute to Iran's economic relations with other countries, member of the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Iranian Parliament Shahruz Barzegar Kalshani said in a statement published on the parliament’s website, Trend reports.
According to him, neighboring countries are important for the economy of Iran.
Kalshani said that the economic and trade relations with neighboring countries will definitely improve, if Iran's foreign policy officials pursue an active economic diplomacy.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stated earlier that negotiations were underway for the signing of monetary agreements between Iran and other countries, and that some agreements had been reached.
The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018 and subsequently expanded the list of sanctions.
From March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019, the value of Iran's exports to neighboring countries was estimated at $24 billion.
