The Georgian government will allocate 200 million lari (more than $60 million) for water supply to three cities - Tbilisi, Rustavi and Mtskheta according to the plan for 2021-2023, Trend reports via Georgian media.
This decision was announced at a meeting of the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission.
According to the chairman of the commission David Narmania, this will improve the supply and quality of drinking water to the population.
The allocated amount will be spent on rehabilitation work to replace and modernize the infrastructure of the water supply system. In turn, this will significantly reduce the number of accidents on drinking water and sewerage pipelines.
"It is very important for every citizen to receive consistently high-quality drinking water, which requires a lot of effort and investment from companies. As you know, most of the existing water supply systems are worn out and need to be replaced and refurbished. A pipeline rehabilitation project has been launched to ensure a continuous and reliable supply of drinking water. water", said Narmania.
A large investment in the amount of 200 million lari will be made by water distribution companies Georgian Water and Power and Rustavi Water Company.
At the same time, water tariffs for residents of Tbilisi, Rustavi and Mtskheta have increased since January 1.
