SOCAR is technically ready to provide transportation of three billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas to Russia in 2012, a source in SOCAR told Trend on Wednesday.
The source noted that the appropriate preparatory work at compressor stations and pipeline infrastructure was implemented to transport large volumes of gas to Russia in the past and this year.
"Gas infrastructure is fully prepared to increase the volume of gas transportation in Russia in 2012," the source said.
SOCAR and Gazprom decided to increase, the supply of Azerbaijani gas to Russia up to three billion cubic meters in 2012. According to the agreement, SOCAR will supply up to two billion cubic meters of gas to Russia before the end of 2011.
SOCAR and Russia's Gazprom signed a contract on sale of Azerbaijani gas October 14, 2009.
