With the launch of the 13A platform, gas production from Iran's South Pars gas field will increase by 14.2 million cubic meters daily, said the operator of the 13th phase of the South Pars gas field development project Payam Motamed, Trend reports referring to the Young Journalists Club (YJC).
According to him, the development of the 13th phase of the South Pars gas field is aimed at extracting 56 million cubic meters of gas per day.
He added that the 13th phase processing plant has 4 gas sweetening units. The daily processing capacity of each unit is 14 million cubic meters of gas.
"The 13th phase produces 75,000 barrels of gas condensate and 400 tons of sulfur daily, as well as 1.1 million tons of liquid gas and 1 million tons of ethane gas annually," he said.
Motamed went on to say that the columns of platform 13A were placed by Iranian experts, and that their installation took 10 days.
"The columns of platform 13A were made at Bushehr's Sadra Industrial Plant," he said.
The South Pars/North Dome field is the world’s biggest gas field shared by Iran and Qatar in the Persian Gulf. It is reported that the field has 51 million cubic meters of gas reserves and that it is possible to extract 36 trillion cubic meters of gas.
