Uzbekistan, together with the Australian company Worley, is working on creating a joint nuclear energy engineering center, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy.
Details of the project were discussed during the visit of the company representatives' delegation to Tashkent. In addition, Worley is considering new options for partnership with Uzbekistan in the nuclear field, in particular, establishing production of high value-added products in Uzbekistan.
The Australian company is also ready to organize a series of training sessions for Uzbek specialists in the oil and gas, electricity and chemical industries.
In May 2019, during the Power Uzbekistan 2019 international exhibition in Tashkent, creation of a joint venture of Worley Parsons Uzbekistan Engineering LLC was announced.
Worley is an Australian engineering company which provides project delivery and consulting services to the resources and energy sectors, and complex process industries.
Russia remains the main partner of Uzbekistan in the nuclear field. In September 2018, an agreement was signed on cooperation in the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The main contractor for the project is Rosatom State Corporation. The nuclear power plant will consist of two 3+ generation units with VVER-1200 reactor units.
The site near Tuzkan Lake in the Jizzakh region was chosen as the priority site for the construction of the station. It is planned to introduce an energy facility by 2028. The Uzbek side has expressed interest in building two more power units with a capacity of 1.2 GW each.
