The quality of gas extracted from well No. 16 of the Shanol gas field in the territory of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC) in the Fars Province (southern Iran) has been upgraded, the head of the Oil Engineering Department of the South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company, Hassan Nematollahi said, Trend reports citing the ICOFC’s website.
The official stressed that a hydrogen sulfide reducing unit has been installed in well No. 16 in order to upgrade the quality of the fuel used by the Parsian Gas Refining Company and to maintain gas extraction in accordance with the standards.
Nematollahi added that the gas extracted from the Parsian operating point is sweet gas, and the device has been installed to prevent the deterioration of the quality of the gas, as well as for the prevention of malfunctions in pipelines and equipment.
Reportedly, there are 4 active gas fields at the Parsian operating point. These fields are Tabnak, Homa, Shanol and Varavi field. And the extracted gas is transported to the Parsian Gas Refining Company.
As Iran's Shanol gas field is integrated with the Homa field, their extraction volume is calculated together. These two fields contain a total of 220 billion cubic meters of gas, of which 155 billion cubic meters can be extracted.
It is estimated that Iran extracts 35 million cubic meters of gas and 12,800 barrels of gas condensate from these two fields at present.
