The start of the construction of three new wells at the Galkynysh gas field in the Iolotan district was launched today by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as part of a working trip to the Mary region, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal.
Earlier it was reported that the construction of these wells will be carried out by the Chinese CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited through the supply of natural gas to China within three years.
The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Turkmenistan Qian Naicheng and Director General of the National Branch of the China National Petroleum Corporation Chen Huailu.
It is reported that the project is designed for 30 months. In accordance with the agreement signed in 2007, payment for the company's services will be made from the annual supply of 17 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China over three years.
China is Turkmenistan's largest partner in the gas industry. Earlier it was reported that Turkmenistan fully repaid China's loans worth more than $8 billion, provided for the construction of a gas pipeline and the development of Galkynysh, the world's largest gas field.
