The volume of oil products loaded and unloaded in the Imam Khomeini port of the Khuzestan Province (south-western Iran) increased by 143 percent during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Director General for Khuzestan Province Ports and Maritime Department Adil Deris said, Trend reports citing the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).
The director general noted that more than 876,000 tons of oil products were loaded and unloaded in the port for transit, export, and import.
Deris added that the products were transported by 100 ships. The reason for the increase in oil products transportation via the Imam Khomeini port is the growing demand for crude oil and oil products in world markets.
“About 500,000 tons of oil products were transited through the port in six months, which is an increase of 336 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year,” he said
As reported, Iran's Imam Khomeini port, located on 11,000 hectares, has the capacity to load and unloaded 54.5 million tons of cargo per year.
