BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. As many as 31 new power units have been installed at Iran’s thermal power plants and connected to the country's electricity network, since the current government came to power in Iran (August 2021), Deputy Director of Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH), Mohammad Ramazani said, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.
“In total, the power generation capacity of the Iran’s TPPs has been increased by 5,730 megawatt-hours during the ruling of the current government,” Ramazani said.
The deputy director also added that of the mentioned increase, 4,695 megawatt-hours were achieved by installing new power units, and 1,035 megawatt-hours by removing barriers on steam units.
According to him, the power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants is currently 73,695 megawatt-hours.
Ramazani noted that at present, 612 power units are operating in 134 thermal power plants in the country.
Meanwhile, Iran's all power plants including, thermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, renewable, and so on generated 359 million megawatt-hours of electricity over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022). Of the mentioned volume, approximately 95 percent accounted for the country’s thermal power plants.
