The Azerbaijani Ministry of Industry and Energy informed Trend that by the end of 2006 three production wells can be put into exploitation on the Shah Deniz field. In general, 4 wells were drilled on the field under the pre-drilling program.
The production of the first gas from the Shah Deniz field was launched on November 10. Gas is currently delivered to Sangachal terminal to complete the balancing and commissioning work and commissioning of new gas rigs under the Shah Deniz project. Afterwards production in the field will be ceased for a while in order to connect the discharge lines to the production platform. Recently, the similar work will be carried out on the second well.
Partners on the project are repaying debts to Azerbaijan for gas, which was used for testing the South Caucasus gas pipeline.
The repayment of debts by participants in the Shah Deniz project to continue over several days and afterwards it is planned to commence gas export via the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzerum system.
