The “Smart city” project, which is planned to be realized in Uzbekistan with use of Huawei technologies, is one of the strategic directions of the country’s development, a representative of the Chinese telecommunications company told Trend.
“Recently, there was an important visit of delegation of Uzbekistan authorities to China and Huawei headquarters [in Shenzhen]. The main aim was to share the Huawei experience with the authorities of Uzbekistan in deployment of ‘Safe’ and ‘Smart city’ concepts,” said the representative.
Meanwhile, Huawei Tech Investment Tashkent has been operating since 1999, and more than half of the Uzbekistan’s population is currently enjoying telecommunication services based on the company’s solutions, which helped launching the first LTE network in the CIS in Uzbekistan eight years ago.
Among the important projects realized by the company in Uzbekistan are “creation of the network of the national cell operator Uzmobile of Uzbektelecom JSC, implementation of the Data Center project of Uzbektelecom JSC in 2015 and development of Uzmobile’s CDMA network in regions of the country providing high-speed Internet by the EVDO technology etc.”
"The Huawei company joined the United Nations Global Compact in 2004 and is providing hi-tech solutions, helping Uzbekistan and world mobile network operators to lower use of natural gas. According to the 2015-2016 reports, we helped Uzbek mobile network carriers to lower power usage by 21 percent,” said the company's message received by Trend.
Huawei is reportedly planning to participate in development of Uzbekistan’s broadband network. The corresponding measures are provided by the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Huawei Tech Investment Tashkent and Uzbek Center of Development Strategy on April 6.
