In January-March 2018, 5.1 million tourists visited Turkey, which is a record figure, the Turkish media cited the country’s Minister of Culture and Tourism Numan Kurtulmus as saying April 27.
The minister also stressed that Turkey has an important tourist potential, which attracts foreign tourists.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that according to the forecasts, 36 million tourists will visit Turkey in 2018.
"Turkey has a great tourist potential and tourism is one of the important sectors in the development of the country's economy," Erdogan said.
Meanwhile, Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said that more than 30 million foreign tourists are expected to visit the country in 2018.
